Transparancy and mud fight

Here is a small article from the Cairo-group’s successfully completed workshop in Ain el Sokhna, Egypt, written by Head of Communication at SCYDK, Martin Kubert, who we were happy to be working together with at the workshop.

Transparency and Mud Fight

Tuesday we had an important breakthrough. It started with transparency and ended with a mud fight.

During the presentation of Save the Children Youth we started a discussion about an issue for further cooperation. The term was ‘transparency’. Or is. Because from now on it will forever be connected to the line: “Jalla, let’s dialogue”. We all learned that our mutual goal shouldn’t be set on comparison of cultures – instead we should build a strong cooperation on needs. We discussed how the Danish approach–or the Danish self-belief–wasn’t so far from the Egyptian hopes for cooperation. Therefore we decided to call the day “Jalla, let’s dialogue”. It should symbolize our mutual urge to form a strong cooperation between Aphra and Save the Children Youth.

Afterwards we took a long break. It was needed, and we went to the beach, which is not more than 300 meters from our conference room. And as our inner children apparently are perfectly active, we decided to have a final–though informal–settle of argument. This took place in the salty, salty beginning of the Suez Channel and consisted of a gigantic mud fight. For now the score is: Denmark 1 – Egypt 0. (But this could very well lead to a new round of discussion…)
